Women's stories are as fascinating as they are diverse, yet women have not been equally represented in history.  Lithuanian women in Australia have made a substantial contribution to the Lithuanian community and beyond, since the first Displaced Person arrived in late 1947.  Where would the community be without their dedicated volunteer work, that ensure the language school, scouts, choir, dancing group and welfare groups operated?

This book is written by the women or their descendants telling their own stories.  It tells the story of why and in what capacity they volunteered.  It exposes their talents and hardships, and their love for Lithuania and famiky.  This book is a testimony to their hard work and dedication,  The editors hope that this work will be a lasting legacy that will inspire current and future community members to be proud of their heritage and carry on the work of their predecessors.
